Molift UK A company based in Stockport, South Manchester supplying lifting and handling equipment to hospitals and medical centres around the UK.

When we first got involved with Molift they were using hotmail, yahoo and other free to sign up e-mail accounts for business communication. This was unreliable and uncontrolled by the business and Equinox was approached to provide a solution for a centralised e-mail system.

After installing a Microsoft server into the main office at Molift in Stockport along with dial up accounts for employees to connect to collect e-mail. As time went on, more employees were connected to the system which then became a problem as there was only a single phone line into the business. To resolve this issue Broadband was installed in the main office using a DrayTek Router, remote connections where then created using local Internet dial up accounts which then connected via VPN to the office. Broadband was later installed into employees homes where they work from as a base. Virtual Private Network - VPN links were then created to connect the remote users in real time to the main office system. This means that e-mail arrives on their laptops at home in real-time and fast. When employees are on holiday or away from home, they check their e-mail using Web_Mail from a friends PC or an Internet Cafe.

We have since been approached by Molift again to provide a phone system for the company office based in Stockport. On looking for solutions we came across a product called VOISpeed. This was installed as a demo version and then once trials proved successful moved to install a full working system. During development of the system for Stockport it was realised that the users on the remote link via VPN could also be integrated onto the system not only allowing them real time e-mail access but to be also connected as an internal extension on the PBX phone system to make and receive calls. Molift now have 5 extensions in the main office along with 10 remote workers taking phone calls at home.

Molift now have real-time e-mail to remote workers based at home, a phone on the laptop connecting them to the office and other colleagues also working from home. The intelligent call management system directs calls to employees desktops or mobiles when they are out on the road. There is a 24 hour answering system including voicemail and instant messaging. Molift also do not pay for calls to colleagues mobiles both mobile to mobile and office to mobile. There is a module installed in the office with 2x O2 SIM cards inside and all calls to colleagues O2 mobiles are router through this box.

By signing up with a SIP provider they also only pay 0.35 pence per minute to call customers mobiles via an Internet SIP provider. A SIP provider is a telephone company based on the Internet and outbound calls are routed via the broadband connection rather than the BT ISDN system, thus meaning a massive saving on calls.

We have also implemented extensions in Florida and Norway. This means that these offices are also connected to system via broadband and calls or call transfers to these number are completely free.

Should Molift now open other offices around the UK or expand further into Florida, they have a phone system can can be readily expanded to incorporate all scenarios that should arise.
